Riesling/Sauvignon Blanc/Pinot Noir

Three more samplings of the nectar of the gods....
Five Flax East Coast Riesling 2009 : NZ Riesling is certainly not a sweet aperitif as sometimes found in North American versions. This example is just off dry with a vanilla finish. Floral aroma and light to medium bodied. Good with soft cheese and served on it's own. Makes a good variation from sauvignon blanc. Priced at around $15.00 cdn.

Riverstone Sauvignon Blanc 2010 : Very fuity variety. Passionfruit and kiwi fruit body. More medium bodied and went well with scallops and pasta. Pleasurable sipper. From the north island which is not nearly as well known as the tip of the South island for it's winery's. Bit on the cheaper side at around $10.00CDN.

Devil's Staircase Central Otago Pinot Noir 2009: Peppery, full bodied with a raspberry edge to it. Has a slight tingle on the tongue. Had it with lamb chops tonight and was divine. As the ad says " takes the willing down into the realm of decadence and Baccanalian delights". Devilishly good - willing to do penance for this smooth and silky sample. About $15.00 cdn.
