Christchurch:Whew what a scorcher /Could there be more rain?

Yesterday the temperature hit 36.2- what a scorcher! This was apparently the result of the cyclone in Australia last week. It then finished off today by raining continually all day.
In the heat, went round the Botanical Gardens here in Christchurch. Thought I was hot but for some reason my aunt decided it wasn't warm enough as she wore a fleece vest just to keep toasty! Also strolled through the Canterbury Museum adjacent to the Gardens. Had a lovely lunch and a chilly beer at the Curator's house , also located in the gardens.
Today with the rain Anita and I spend the day at the Art Gallery . The Gallery is only 4 years old and has a good mix of traditional and modern works. Met a couple from Martha's vineyard who are in NZ for three months. Hoping for better weather tomorrow and a trip out to the Port hills with Jim and Dee Cassels.
